Bolesworth Estate has been under the careful stewardship of the Barbour Family since 1856.
At the heart of the Estate sits Bolesworth Castle. Built in the 1820’s and adapted 100 years later by Clough Williams Ellis, the famous architect, Bolesworth Castle occupies a truly stunning position, perched on the sandstone ridge overlooking the Cheshire plain.
As well as being the home of the Barbour family, Bolesworth Castle is also the location of the Estate Office, from where all the day to day management takes place for the wider estate.
When first purchased, the Estate extended to 2,000 acres. Having been steadily expanded by the family, the Estate now extends to just over 6,300 acres.
A traditional dairy farming estate, Bolesworth has had to adapt and change over the last century in order to continue to thrive as a place to work and live.
The biggest change in the last 25 years was as a result of Anthony Barbour’s vision to create a modern working environment on a traditional estate. Utilising former farm buildings and more recently building new, Bolesworth now boasts over 140 commercial lettings. Our tenants employ over 1,000 people.
Nina Barbour continues her father’s legacy and continues to look forward to the next challenge as well as exploring the endless opportunities that exist at Bolesworth.
